Samuel Wanjiru

Samuel Kamau Wanjiru (1986–2011) was a product of the MKTDC training programme from 1998–2002. He became the first Kenyan to win Olympic gold in the marathon at the 2008 Beijing Games with an Olympic record of 2:06:32.
He was the 2008-2009 World Marathon Major winner, the youngest runner with three World Marathon Majors victories (Beijing, London, Chicago), and held the 10,000m U20 World Record from 2005 to 2024. He set the half marathon world record three times.
